What is it?

A hierarchical or "top-down" flowchart focuses on the major steps of a process.

Who uses it?

The managers, or members of the team.

Why use it?

To determine the major steps of a process.

When to use it?

When you are trying to systematize the planning of activities.

How to use it:

  1. Identify the major steps of the process.

  2. Put each step in a box across the top of the page.

  3. List the main sub-steps below each major step.
