Evaluate and Monitor the Solution
Why?
To check if the problem has been solved, you should monitor the
implementation process and evaluate the results.
What?
A monitoring system is the sum of all procedures used continuously to
evaluate a program and to provide information about its purpose, objectives, activities, impact, costs, and user satisfaction.
How?
You need a set of tools to measure the relationship between the expected results and the actual results. The difference will determine the need for corrective measures, and which ones to apply.
Steps you can take to develop a monitoring system include:
- Define the most important indicators, with the help of an
indicator matrix. Indicators may
include:
- Process indicators selected for supervision
- Indicators for achieving goals defined in the planning of the
project
- Indicators for the evaluation of results and quality of the process
- Define the components of the monitoring system, based on the list
of indicators selected previously and using a prioritization matrix with
criteria such as: type of data collection, frequency of analysis, type of data processing, and responsibilities.
- Define the standards for the indicators that you will use to interpret the results of monitoring. This can be done by using the following tools:
- Defining standards using:
international or national norms and goals, norms from the team's own programming, or norms chosen by consensus by the team.
- Using the X-R and P control graphs to statistically calculate the standards.
