Welcome to Managing for Quality

What does it take to consistently provide high-quality health services?
What can I do to improve the quality of services in my organization?
How and where do I start?

Sustainable quality improvement is driven by a focus on the user. To enhance the user's experience of an organization's services, a three-pronged strategy should be employed -- one emphasizing problem solving, team building and managing the process of quality improvement.

The interrelationship of these four topics (the user focus and the tripartite strategy) is illustrated by the quality triangle.

Quality Triangle - Management is at the top,
Problem Solving Tools is in the lower left and Teams is in the
lower right. Focus on the User is in the middle with arrows pointing from
the corners into the middle and from the middle out to the corners

Each of the topics is supported by an array of concepts and tools which show, in practical terms, exactly how to implement each stage of the quality improvement process.

Bringing it all together is the case study on the Santa Rosa Health Center. Follow Mrs. Alvarez, the Health Center director, as she leads her team of staff and users through the complete quality improvement process in a clear and easy-to-follow illustration of how to integrate all the topics, concepts and tools presented on this site.
