PROVIDER PERSPECTIVE:
Leon Sears (1)
Text Transcript
I will never forget what my chief resident in residency said. He said, "Leon, if you treat them like they are your loved ones-that's your mama, your daddy, your grandfather, your grandmother, your brother, your sister, you will never go wrong." So that is what I try to do and whether they look like me, or say that they don't want to see an African American physician, a Hispanic, Asian American, whatever, if I look at them as a loved one, then I can transcend all the barriers that disparities and cultural differences set up.
